1. Discussed the struggles of teaching Rationals so far. We have done a lot of prep work to prepare them (adding and subtracting simple fractions, and factoring review). We will begin adding/subtracting Rationals on Monday 5/6.

3. Look at essential standards for Rationals. Start with basic adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.

1. Went over field testing with Dawn. Looked at practice tests and how students are supposed to navigate through the problems. Please make sure all 10th graders see this before their field test.

2. Discussed next week's plans with radicals. We do not have to go over adding, subtracting, or multiplying anymore, but we plan to do it with advanced.

3. Planning to test on Radicals on 4/23. ACT is 4/24.

-Frayer model: use and tailor to our needs (image-graph?, examples/nonexamples, math use vs. real world use, etc.)
-possible math words: equal, identity, ellipses, zero, evaluate, ...
2. 2 Column notes-increasing academic language.
-"What is it asking you to do?"
-"Where would you start?"

1. Final stamp of approval on PBL Projects Everything is good. Project to be introduced on Friday
2. Look at planning guide for the next week or two. Planning is good. Nate may be a day or two behind. 
3. Stamp of approval on test. Good on tests-ready to copy
4. Discuss quizzes Quizzes were good-only a handful of kids did poorly (mostly due to absences) and most kids got 16/16 or just missed one point.

1. Looked at Retirement project from last year. This will be used for our Advanced class for a PBL demonstrating how interest rates in accounts resemble a geometric sequence/series. One tweak: "group" portion of project will now be in pairs.
2. Our regular classes will complete a similar project on making a large purchase of their choice.
3. Looked at planning for next week and shared resources. Friday's lesson should be an Illustrative Math Task "Lifetime Savings" to introduce PBL projects.
